Effective rehabilitation often requires exercising specific or targeted areas of the body. This could mean that someone purposefully uses one side of their body, left or right for example, in order to retrain and repair damaged muscles and nerve pathways. It is therefore essential for bathroom facilities to adapt, and solutions found that would position equipment in such a way that assists and promotes rehabilitation.

Best results are achieved with flexible bathroom arrangements using Pressalit’s track mounted PLUS products. Supportive items such as hinged arms and shower chairs can be moved left and right on the horizontal wall tack or moved to another area of the bathroom altogether.

A good illustration is the shower, which is usually found in the corner of a bathroom because of drainage. When corners are used, the shower chair will be on one wall and the shower taps and controls adjacent on the other wall. Any transfer on and off the shower seat will be either left or right handed and the use of the taps will be predominantly set up for left or right sided use as well.
Track mounted shower chairs and shower taps can be easily swapped around to provide left or right sided set ups as required, effectively changing the bathroom arrangement to suit individual requirements. Bathroom products that are fixed and do not change position will not provide such an effective solution for rehabilitation.
An opening shower curtain rail should also be included in the arrangement to allow access for ceiling and mobile hoists.
